    Haliburton a county located in Ontario, Canada with more than 600 lakes, borders Algonquin Park on the north is known for its beautiful cottage country and tourism. The major lakes in the area are Boskung Lake, Drag Lake, Gull Lake, Haliburton Lake, Halls Lake, Hawk Lake, Head Lake, Lake Kashagawigamog, Kawagama Lake, Kennisis Lake, Kushog Lake, Minden Lake, Mountain Lake, Paudash Lake, Redstone Lake, Salerno Lake, Twelve Mile Lake and Wenona Lake. Haliburton is named after Thomas Chandler Haliburton the first chairman of the Canadian Land and Emigration Company, an author and statesman.Started as a Provisional County of Haliburton in 1874 then in 1983 became Haliburton County.
